Personal Letter: On Child Abuse A child is by far one of God's most precious gifts, therefore, this gift should not be taken lightly. God has blessed you with a child. And placing His child into your protective care, is His way of letting you know that He trusts you. Currently, there should be no job more important than to nurture and properly care for your child. Because of the enormous amount of pressure that parents face today, far too many children are being abused. But God will now accept any excuses for this type of behavior. And it is up to you to know the difference between discipline and abuse. It would serve you very well to know that God is always with you. And if at any time you should start to feel overwhelmed by life's pressures, there is nothing He wants more than for you to call on Him. So, during stressful times, if you should ever feel the need to strike out at your child, turn to God and simply ask Him to calm you down. This will give you the time you need to ask for help by calling a concerned friend, or the proper authorities. I am bringing this to your attention now because you are beginning to display the type of behavior that can sometimes lead to neglect and abuse of your child. Needless to say, children are unable to understand or to defend themselves against their parent's misdirected anger, therefore, I have decided to intervene with the intent of preventing a potentially dangerous situation from occurring. There are so many children who would have been saved from the abuse, or the overly aggressive behavior of their parents had a concerned friend been willing to step in to alleviate some of the pressure. But unfortunately, they chose to look the other way. I do not have the heart to look the other way. Please accept this personal and private letter from me, as my way of letting you know that I am here for you. If at any time you feel a need to have a temporary separation from your child, please do not hesitate to call on me. I will be more than happy to provide you with any assistance that you may need. As a concerned friend and someone who really cares about you and your child, this is the least I can do for you and your family during your time of need. I owe this to you, I owe this to your child, I owe this to myself, but of utmost importance, I owe this to God! |
